Our Mission

Our nonprofit organization is committed to promoting and celebrating the positive initiatives and achievements of students, families, and Buffalo public schools. We strive to support and advocate for projects and programs that have a meaningful impact on the community. Through our dedication and recognition, we aim to inspire and empower individuals to strive for excellence in their educational endeavors. We are passionate about fostering a culture of success and growth within our schools, and we are proud to be a part of the positive changes taking place in our community. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for the students and families of Buffalo.

Purpose

The Buffalo Parent Teacher Organization (BPTO) is dedicated to enhancing the education of children in Buffalo public schools through the promotion of strong connections between parents, families, school administrators, staff, and community members. By fostering these relationships, the BPTO aims to create a supportive and collaborative environment that nurtures the educational development of students. Through the involvement of all stakeholders, including volunteers, the organization works to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed in their academic journey. The BPTO is committed to creating a positive and inclusive school community that values the importance of parental involvement and community support in the education of our children.

Membership

Any parent, guardian, or other adult acting as a parent for a student at a school in Buffalo is eligible to become a member with voting rights. Additionally, active community stakeholders, school and district administrators, as well as all school staff (whether employed or volunteer) can also become members and have voting rights. This inclusive approach ensures that those directly involved in the school community have a say in important decisions and policies. It fosters a sense of ownership and collaboration among parents, school staff, and community members, ultimately leading to a more well-rounded and representative decision-making process. By allowing various stakeholders to have a voice, the school community can work together towards creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Leadership

Our leadership team is a diverse and dedicated group of individuals who bring a range of skills and experiences to their roles. The four co-chairs, Roberta Cates, Danielle Gryzmala, Eve Shippens, and Monica Stephens, work collaboratively to provide strong leadership and direction for the organization. Adrianna Zullich serves as the secretary, ensuring that communication and administrative tasks are handled efficiently. Chris Salamone manages the finances as the treasurer, and Dennice Barr takes on the important role of leading the community and transportation committee. Together, this team works to make decisions, set priorities, and guide the organization towards achieving its goals. Their commitment and expertise are invaluable in driving our organization forward.

Initiate, support, advocate for, and recognize positive projects, programs, and accomplishments of the students, their families, and schools.
